PLN #3

     This past week i read "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Cornell; this short story has changed my perspective on survival. This story is about a man named Rainsford being stranded on a island and the only way he can get off is if he survives being hunted from a man named general Zaroff. "The choice rests entirely with you. But may I not venture to suggest that you will find my idea of sport more diverting than Ivan's?" When Zaroff is hunting people for fun, and its no different for Rainsford. If Rainsford does want to be hunted Zaroff gives Rainsford to Ivan (Zarroff's servant)and Rainsford would probably die. Rainsford has no choice but to be hunted and survive for 3 days.
     While Rainsford is being hunted he is trying to fight back by setting up traps to stop Zaroff. "Rainsford, if you are within the sound of my voice, as i suppose you are, let me congratulate you. Not many men know how to make a Malay man catcher. Luckily for me I, too, have hunted in Malacca. You are proving interesting, Mr Rainsford. I am going now to have my wound dressed; it's only a slight one. But I shall be back. I shall be back." I think Zaroff and Rainsford are approaching this the right way. Zaroff is not underestimating Rainsford and Rainsford is trying to stop Zaroff. When Rainsford is attacking back it makes you wonder why we want to survive and what pushes us to fight back even in the face of death.

PLN #1

I read the Da Vinci code over the summer and it changed my overall thinking about religion and history itself. Their were parts were they were talking about how the Vatican was hiding the truth about Jesus and it made me wonder, what if something serious like the French revolution was started for  a completely different reason? It made me remember a quote my 8th grade history teacher had on her wall "History is a set of lies we agree upon" it was said by Napoleon Bonaparte. It just made me wonder if their are things in history that didn't actually happen the way we said or heard it did.
